Current opportunities:

Chief Merchandiser opportunity in the ReStore-The ReStore is looking for a volunteer(s) to take on the role of chief merchandiser. The volunteer(s) would come in a couple of hours each week to help with creative store display and merchandising. This is a fun opportunity for students interested in design or anybody with a creative streak!

Online Social Media Intern-The ReStore has a lot to tweet about, but we need your help! The social media intern will help us get with the times and set up lively Facebook and Twitter pages for the ReStore as well as train staff in social media techniques.

Special events-We’re looking for experienced caterers/servers to help us put on a special event on the evening of July 1. We’re also seeking childcare providers to volunteer during our Dream Builder’s Breakfast on July 22.

A Brush With Kindness-Join us Saturdays throughout the summer as we help low income families complete exterior repairs and maintenance work on their homes. Projects will include painting, staining, landscaping, and more! No experience necessary!

Committee Work-There are currently spots available on the DIGS Committee and the Resource Development Committee. DIGS Committee members plan and coordinate all DIGS events and campaigns. Members of the Resource Development Committee focus on all aspects of Habitat’s fundraising. Committees meet once a month.

Thank you to all who attended Habitat’s 5th Annual Dream Builder’s Breakfast!

The event was a huge success with record turn out! Thanks to the generosity of hundreds of individuals, we are on our way to building five homes on Hall Street next year!

Habitat homeowner Kelley Web, pictured above with daughter Seren and son Rye, gave an inspirational talk about how Habitat has impacted her family’s life and enabled her to not only receive a great deal from our community but also be able to give back and be involved. Kelley’s story is just one example of the work Habitat does to not only build homes, but to help strengthen community and create brighter futures too!

Mayor Mark Barron will share information about the Jackson Hole Energy Sustainability Project on Wednesday, August 4th at Town Hall. Bring a brown bag lunch and your questions!

The Jackson Hole Energy Sustainability Project’s (JHESP) mission is to reduce energy use and avoid high energy costs for our community and our residents. We can save tens of millions of dollars through energy-conserving behanvior and making our homes and buildings more energy efficient.

Teton County, the Town of Jackson, and Lower Valley Energy have entered into a partnership which is committed to reducing our energy load growth through conservation and distributed renewable energy generation.

Habitat launches A Brush with Kindness

Habitat for Humanity of the Greater Teton Area has launched a program called A Brush with Kindness to provide exterior home repairs to qualifying low-income homeowners. Improvements include exterior painting, landscaping and other minor repairs. Labor is offered at no cost but homeowners are responsible for the cost of materials. Habitat can offer interest-free financing for homeowners who are unable to pay for the cost of repairs up front. This program will be offered through October 2010. Applications will be reviewed on the first Tuesday of each month.
